Most people are highly drawn towards social media in today’s time. Amidst this, there’s a growing trend of creating sensational content online. There was a time when social media was created to connect people virtually. Now, it has largely become a platform dominated by questionable content. Despite occasional protests from experienced users against such trends, many of the youth come up with content that is cringe and often deemed indecent. There’s a fierce race to garner more views, leading to a continuous stream of indecent content for higher viewer counts. One Rajbanshi singer named Manindra Barman expressed his concern about the societal decline, emphasising the urgent need to halt it. He warned of increasingly dire consequences for human society, if immediate action is not taken.
Barman noted the younger generation’s trajectory towards darkness and acknowledged the growing chorus of voices denouncing indecent content on social media. Being a singer, he chose to voice his protest through music, composing and writing a song himself in the Rajbanshi language to raise awareness about this issue.
He also commented on the repercussions of this societal issue, highlighting how it leads the next generation towards darkness and fuels a rise in anti-social behaviour. He lamented the danger girls face while walking on the streets, and how even elders in households hesitate to use social media in front of children due to the prevalence of obscene reel videos. He noted the shame many feel in their own homes because of this content. Barman took a proactive stance by channelling his concerns into music. He personally composed and penned a song in the Rajbanshi language, addressing these pressing social issues head-on. His musical endeavour quickly gained momentum, spreading virally across the internet and capturing widespread public interest. Through his song, Barman not only aimed to raise awareness but also sought to inspire a collective call to action against the harmful effects of explicit content on social media platforms.
