Bangalore: Social activist T J Abraham, who had filed a complaint before the Lokayukta court regarding alleged irregularities in the Bangalore-Mysore Express highway project and illegal mining, was on Thursday arrested in connection with an assault case, police said. A case was registered against Abraham on the complaint of one Rajan Chaudhari in 2001 and a local court had issued warrant against the accused, police said.
In the wake of Abraham failing to respond to the warrant, the court had recently issued a non-bailable warrant leading to his arrest. Abraham was produced today before the 11th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court which remanded him to judicial custody till December 4.
Abraham had filed a complaint before the special Lokayukta Court alleging irregularites in the Bangalore-Mysore Express Highway project and also seeking probe into illegal mining on the basis of Lokayukta report. Three former chief ministers - H D Deve Gowda, S M Krishna and B S Yeddyurappa - have been named as accused in the BMIC case.
