BANGALORE: A family dispute ended with a 37-yearold man being shot dead by his brother-in-law. The incident took place at the victim’s house at Bismillah Nagar in MICO Layout police limits around 8 pm on Friday. The victim has been identified as Jamshid Sharief, a scrap dealer.He was allegedly shot dead by his brother-in-law Aslam Sharief, who was accompanied by his brothers Akram and Amjad. The three accused, all residents of Gurappana Palya, have been arrested. The police said the victim was married to Asna Bhanu about four years ago and she had deserted Jamshid about three months ago.Jamshid was staying with his mother, sister, brother and sister-in-law.As they were a joint family, Asna wanted to move out and had asked her husband to make a separate house but Jamshid was reluctant.Depressed over this, Asna had deserted him and had gone to her parent’s house in Gurappana Palya, the police said.“On Friday evening, Aslam and his brothers came to Jamshid’s residence and asked him to come out of the house. Thinking that they had come to discuss family matters, Jamshid came out. But the accused picked up an argument and in a fit of rage, Aslam slapped and pulled out his pistol and shot at Jamshid,” the police explained.Meanwhile, Rasheeda, Jamshid’s sister in-law, said that she was inside the house and hearing the gunshot came running outside along with her mother-in-law.“As Aslam was ready to trigger another bullet, Jamshid’s mother pulled him by the collar and in the melee, Aslam dropped the pistol and fled the scene along with his brothers,” she explained.However, Jamshid’s family members managed to shift him to a nearby hospital with the help of neighbours.But, he succumbed to injuries in the wee hours of Saturday, the police added.In the meantime, Aslam, elder brother of Jamshid, told Express that Jamshid’s wife Asna Bhanu was reluctant to stay with the joint family.“Jamshid did not want to move out and he tried to convince her. Asna Bhanu used to pick quarrels with him over trivial issues and finally she had left him and gone to her parents three months ago.”A case has been registered in MICO Layout police station and the investigations are on, the police said.
