KOCHI: The 84th Jayanthi celebrations of renowned Carnatic musician Sangeetha Paramacharya Mavelikkara R Prabhakara Varma will be inaugurated by Excise and Ports Minister K Babu at 5 pm on November 27 at the Sangeetha Kalanidhi T K Govinda Rao Nagar (Government Sanskrit College Auditorium), Trippunithura. Thiruvananthapuram Sree Swathy Thirunal Music College former principal P R Kumara Kerala Varma will preside over the function.The Sangeetha Prabhakara Award instituted by the disciples and well-wishers of R Prabhakara Varma, will be given to Padmasree Sangeetha Kalanidhi N Ramani. The function is being organised by the disciples of Prabhakara Varma and members of the Poornathrayeesa Sangeetha Sabha. Palakkad Chembai Memorial Government College of Music principal M Balasubramaniam, Tripunithura Municipality chairman R Venugopal, G Visakh Varma, Sree Poornathrayeesa Sangeetha Sabha secretary Krishna Moorthy and Mavelikkara P Subramaniam will speak.The inaugural function will be followed by a flute recital by Padmasree Sangeetha Kalanidhi N Ramani. He will be accompanied on the violin by T H Subramaniam, mridangam by R Ananthakrishnan and ghatom by Tripunithura N Radhakrishnan.
