HYDERABAD: The Telangana employees, who have served a strike notice on the government, appear to be in two minds on whether to press ahead with their proposed stir from Aug 17. The division within their ranks came even as the government invited them for talks on Thursday.A section of the employees believes a step back at this juncture would be a major setback for the Telangana movement. But their colleagues from the districts are learnt to be urging caution. “Most of the employees depend on salaries and have little savings. Given the experience following the non-cooperation movement in February, a section of the employees wants the leaders to resume talks with the government,” one of the employees’ leaders told Express.A few other leaders also felt it was not advisable to launch a full-scale strike during the festive season as families would suffer if the government withheld salaries. Sources said the leaders were under pressure from district units to defer the strike, citing lack of political support and the festival season. TJAC leader K Swamy Goud said employee organisations will announce a decision on Thursday. The cabinet sub-committee on Wednesday appealed to them to withdraw their strike notice.
