Around 743 violators booked on the fifth day of odd-even scheme in Delhi
The enforcement teams of the government's transport department fined around 71 motorists, while the revenue department booked 542 people.

New Delhi: Around 743 violators of the odd-even scheme were booked on Wednesday, the fifth day of the car rationing measure implementation, while Delhi Metro witnessed a jump in its ridership.

Police said it penalised 130 motorists for violating the car restrictions as against Tuesday's figure of 401. The enforcement teams of the government's transport department fined around 71 motorists, while the revenue department booked 542 people.

Around 1,247 violators of the scheme that will stay in force till January 15 were booked on Tuesday. 321 auto drivers were booked for refusing to ply on the roads in the national capital.

Delhi Metro officials said that the ridership saw a jump of over 75,000 than last Wednesday with a figure of around 20,84,401 till 8 PM on Wednesday.

Ridership of Yellow Line and Blue Line, the busiest corridors, were 7,57,560 and 7,40,302 respectively.
