Architects create music video
Eight architect friends recently came together to create a music video, and are thrilled that it has been creating a flu..

KOCHI: When length, breadth and height are the only thoughts running in the minds of an architect, here is a group of eight architect friends who have some other designs on their minds as well. That was the beginning of their music video, ‘Yathra’.These architect-friends came together during their student days at TKM Engineering College, Kollam. “We actually wanted to make a film  but due to paucity of time and lack of leave from office we stuck to making a musical video,” says Prasanth. The planning for the video began five months back and took three days of shoot and two days of post production work to get completed. The group mostly collaborated on the net, given their working schedules but got together for the shoot. Hearteningly, when the video was first uploaded on You Tube and  other social networking sites a couple of months back, it was well-received, and so far has already got more than 7000 hits. Surprisingly, the most enthusiastic response for the video has come from NRIs. “I think it is because the story is about the good old memories of our native place,” he adds.  “The music video creates a nostalgia about our childhood and the place where we grew up in. Usually music videos tell stories of love but we wanted to  talk about  attachment,” says Prasanth Mohan, director and cinematographer of ‘Yathra’. He adds, “The video revolves around the special bond that a young man shares with his grandmother and his native place. When he gets a job he steps out from this hamlet to a world unknown to him. The video shows the man’s childhood memories and the lovely people in whose care he spent his life thus far.” Even though videography and architecture have no obvious connection, Prasanth explains that both require a certain visual aesthetics.  “To become a good architect one needs good visualising abilities. In my opinion videography is an extension of creative visualisation.” This cinematographer who is the associate professor in Manipal University advises even his students to think visually on whatever they intend to design. The song which is 4.12 minutes long is an visual treat with the backdrop of a serene village. The melodious voice of Vidhu Pratap makes it even more appealing to its listeners. Now the team is gearing up, along with a few other of their IT friends to create a docu-film on adoption, which in now in its pre-production stage.
