AP: Staff to work extra hours to clear backlog

HYDERABAD: After 42 days of striking work in support of the Telangana cause, government staff were back at their desks today. At government offices round the state, including the Secretariat in Hyderabad, offices had the feel of the first day at school. Employees greeted each other like long-lost pals, cracked jokes about the strike, dusted their desks and  raised their eyebrows at the piles of files.The Secretariat, which had for weeks, been forlorn, milled with employees and pairavikars Tuesday. And the canteen was the busiest place on the premises. The Joint Action Committee of Secretariat Employees has decided to work extra hours to clear about 50,000 backlog files.
