New Delhi: The next big battle of the tablets will be fought on a 7-inch turf. Google recently unveiled its Nexus 7 tablet to counter the Amazon Kindle Fire and now rumours are rife about Amazon striking back with a Kindle Fire successor.
According to AllThingsD, Amazon is gearing up to launch its second-generation Kindle Fire tablet in the third quarter of this year.
The report says the new Kindle Fire tablet will be thinner and lighter than its predecessor and will also include a camera.
The Kindle Fire successor is rumoured to have an improved 1280 x 800 pixel display against the 1024 x 600 pixel resolution in the first-generation Kindle Fire. This means the new tablet will have a 67 per cent increase in total pixels.
Apple is also rumoured to hit markets with the iPad mini - a smaller version of its popular tablet - later this year.
