MADURAI: Collector U Sagayam inspected the arrangements made for the jallikattu in Avaniyapuram, Palamedu and Alanganallur near here on Saturday.With the HC giving green signal to conduct the jallikattu, preparatory works are going on in full swing in these venues. Jallikattu will be held on Jan 15,16 and 17 in Avaniyapuram, Palamedu and Alanganallur respectively. He checked the medical reports of bulls and tamers and the on-site behaviour at all the venues. He ordered officials to set up medical booths with all facilities to meet any emergency.Speaking to reporters, the Collector said that arrangements were being done as per the norms laid down by the SC, the HC Bench and the instructions of the CM. “To ensure the safety of spectators, double barricades have been erected. Only registered bulls will be allowed to enter the arena. Bull tamers will be given identity cards and those under the influence of alcohol or narcotic substances will be sent out’’, he added.
