The Kudumbashree Clean Well Thozhil Samrakshana Vedi alleged in a press conference here on Monday that the City Corporation has been trying to divert the calamity relief fund allotted to Kudumbashree women through the Swarna Jayanti Shahahari Rozgar Yojna.
“The fund was allotted to 860 workers. But the names of all these workers were not in the list which was submitted by the Corporation. The Corporation has been trying to divert the fund to settle the debt that resulted from the purchase of vehicles. The vehicles were bought to collect waste and the Kudumbashree workers are not responsible for repaying the debt,” said Thozhil Samrakshana Vedi members Usha, Santha, Nirmala and others.
They also demanded that they should be rehabilitated in the existing vacancies for cleaning staff in government hospitals.
