Chennai: Arch rivals -- AIADMK and DMK -- will clash for electoral honours in the May 8 Tamil Nadu assembly polls in 106 seats.
The MDMK, a constituent of the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance in the Lok Sabha polls but now a partner in the AIADMK-led front, is contesting 35 seats and will take on the DMK in 17 seats.
The CPI-M would take on the AIADMK in six seats, MDMK in five, Dalit Panthers of India and a splinter group of INTUC in one seat each.
CPI would fight the AIADMK in nine seats and MDMK in one.
Dalit Panthers of India (DPI), which is contesting nine seats in alliance with the AIADMK, would face the Congress in four seats, DMK in three and the PMK and the CPI in one each.
Two Muslim parties -- Indian Union Muslim league in DMK front and Indian National league in AIADMK front -- will fight among themselves in two seats, while the IUML would face the MDMK for its third seat.
In Chennai, which contributed 14 members in the 234 member house, the AIADMK and the DMK would face each other in three seats -- Royapuram, Park Town and Purasawakkam.
