BANGALORE: Bangalore Rural district administration celebrated the birth anniversary of saint-poet Maharshi Valmiki, the author of the classical epic Ramayana, on Tuesday.Speaking after inaugurating the event, Labour Minister B N Bache Gowda said that Valmiki was famous throughout the world because he wrote Ramayana, one of the great epics written in India and went on to become a part of our culture.He called upon people to follow the ideals and values represented in the great epic and said that Valmiki had written about how the administration should work with a detailed description of Ramarajya.He also added that the Government was working on releasing an information booklet on all government schemes in the state.MLC E Krishnappa, who participated in the event, said, “Valmiki is like a God to mankind. He does not represent any one community or one religion. We should all adopt his morals and ethical values.”The district administration felicitated four persons, from four taluks, involved in social service, education and farming. Deputy Commissioner Bangalore Rural R K Raju, president of Karnataka Sahitya Academy M H Krishniah and other official were present on the occasion.
