The abducted grandson of RJD general secretary of Jharkhand was on Wednesday rescued from Aurangabad district of Bihar, police said.
Abhinav, the grandson of G S Pandey, RJD general secretary of Jharkhand was abducted by unknown persons while he was strolling in his locality in medininagar on Friday and the abductors had reportedly demanded a Rs one crore ransom for his release, the sources said.
The Palamau district police had formed a special police team to rescue Abhinav after a case was lodged in the Town police station in this regard.
Police Superintendent of Palamau N K Singh said five persons were arrested from Ranchi, Ramgarh and Palamu in connection with the abduction of Abhinav on Tuesday and their subsequent interrogation led to the place where Abhinav was kept.
The arrested persons - Aman Kumar, Vinay Singh, Prakash Singh, Ashwini Kumar and Fantus Sharma - were the gang members headed by an ex-army man Kunal Singh, the SP said, adding a hunt was launched to apprehend Kunal.
