HYDERABAD: Three persons were arrested on Sunday for kidnap of a seven-year boy from Saidabad three days back. The boy was kidnapped for a ransom of `1 crore but the abductors released him in Mahaboobnagar district, after police started to track them down.The boy, N Venkatesh is a class II student of Triveni High School at Champapet and a resident of Reddy Colony. East Zone deputy commissioner of police Y Gangadhar said on August 19 around 4 p.m, Venkatesh along with his mother, Bujji was walking to their home from his school when he was abducted. "Two persons, aged between 20 and 22 years, came on a black motorcycle and identified themselves as family friends. They offered to drop them at the residence when suddenly the pillion-rider snatched the boy from his mother and fled away," the DCP said.Following a complaint by Bujji, Saidabad police took up investigation and arrested three accused Ketavath Ravi, an auto driver and resident of Khaja Bagh Huts, Jatoth Rekya Nayak and R Bhaskar Naik, both natives of Kallepalli Thanda in Balanagar of Mahaboobnagar district. Ravi is a relative of the boy's family.Police managed to track down the abductors following calls from undisclosed locations demanding ransom. "The kidnappers called the victim's father on his mobile from an undisclosed destination and demanded a ransom of `1 crore. Based on the call details, Saidabad police and East Zone Task Force sleuths acted swiftly and tracked down the location details of the accused," the DCP said.Police took several suspects into custody and after tracking mobile tower locations, when police started chasing the kidnappers, the latter abandoned the boy at Rangayakunta Thanda, near the native place of Venkatesh's father. He reportedly owns many properties in his native village and the abductors planned to make rich by kidnapping his son, police said. Police handed over the boy to his parents after rescuing him from the kidnappers.
