BANGALORE: Echo’s center for juvenile justice organised a wedding reception festival, Madhuve Aarthikshyathe Habba on November 27 at its premises of Kammanahalli for the children that underwent rehabilitation process in the center.These were the very children who were in need of care and protection in these centers. The ceremony was marked with lighting the lamp, cultural activities, presenting of gift etc. The special attraction of the event was a girl Bharathi who got married recently, was given a rousing welcome in the function along with 30 other couples of echo. A good number of invitees from government and other NGO’s participated in the function.During their rehabilitation stay at echo, they were grommed into responsible citizens by imparting necessary education, vocational training, identifying their talents and channelising their past hitherto negative energy into positive energy.They were finally transformed into young men and women of integrity and confidence to take up responsible jobs, self employment or enter into entrepreneurship programmes.Today many children who grew up in these centers have settled in life both financially and morally and got married. The function witness some breathe taking stories from the people who had personal experience in these centers.Two girls shared their experiences to the audience about their married life.Harshitha 23 said, "On June 24, 2011 I got married to Venkitesh who is working as a manager in a college canteen at Dharmasthala. While I was at echo I received vocational training which helped me to have a better future.”
