Noida: Seven people were killed and 13 others seriously injured in a road accident on Noida Highway late on Wednesday night.
Inspector General of Police (Meerut Range) Gurbachan Lal on Thursday visited the accident site and took stock of the situation.
Superintendent of Police (City) Ashok Tripathi said the accident occurred when wheel of a tractor, loaded with wheat, gave way on Phase two of the Express Highway and a crane coming from behind collided with it. One person got stuck in the crane and the police was called for help.
While the police was helping the injured, a container coming from behind crushed the policemen and the people who were present there.
Kasna Post Sub-Inspector P K Tyagi, Home Guard Sanjay, Police Driver Mukesh and locals Kapil, Pramod and Nekram died on the spot.
The 13 injured have been admitted to various hospitals. The condition of two was stated to be critical and they were on ventilators.
