KOTTAYAM: At least four persons, including three police officials, were injured in a clash between Kerala Youth Front(Mani) and DYFI activists over burning of an effigy of CPM secretary Pinarayi Vijayan here on Monday.SI Jayaprakash of Kottayam West Station, two other policemen and a Kerala Congress worker sustained injuries. The injuries were not serious, police sources said. KYF(M) activists took out a march carrying the effigy of Pinarayi Vijayan in the town. DYFI supporters, who got wind of it, rushed to the spot and protested against the move, the police said. This led to arguments between the two groups, followed by stone-pelting. Policemen, media workers and passersby too got hit by stones, police said. The police swung into action and caned unrelenting workers. The situation was soon brought under control, the police said.
