PUDUCHERRY: A 20-year-old man was arrested in connection with the rape of a minor girl from Chennai in Koodapakkam on the night of April 4. The special team, formed as per instructions of the SP (South) T Bairavasamy, nabbed the culprit J P Jayaprakash, hailing from Koodapakkam for raping 17-year-old Thentral (name changed).Bairavasamy told reporters on Friday that Thentral and her parents, from Satyamurthy Nagar in Chennai, reached Koodapakkam on April 2 to attend a ceremony.The youth managed to befriend Thentral and asked her to come to nearby place that was secluded on the night of April 4. Jayaprakash raped her, following which she developed bleeding. This came to the notice of her parents and she was taken to Rajiv Gandhi hospital. A police complaint was then lodged.Bairavasamy said the special police team arrested Jayaprakash, an ITI student, on Friday morning.Jawan’s Murder SolvedPuducherry police on Thursday arrested Geetha in connection with the murder of her husband, Murugavel, a Tripura Rifles Jawan.Superintendent of Police (South) T Bairavasamy told reporters that Geetha was arrested from her mother’s residence at Othvanthankudi in Sirkali, in Tamil Nadu on Thursday. The Police had been on the lookout for the wife Geetha, who had an affair with one of the accused in the case, Vinothkumar. The police had arrested Vinothkumar, Vimalraj, Ravikumar, Dheena Dhanaraj and Balakrishnan in connection with the murder in August last year.
