HYDERABAD: Police arrested 989 activists affiliated to various political parties, including CPM state secretary B V Raghavulu and CPI secretary Narayana in Hyderabad city. While Cyberabad police arrested 598 activists, when they participated in Bharat bandh call given by parties to protest against petrol hike.In Hyderabad, police arrested Raghavulu and Narayana when they participated in the rally that took place in Narayanaguda. As the rally reached Narayanaguda crossroads, police detained them and shifted them to the police station.Police arrested a total 989 activists in various places when they were staging dharnas, burning effigies, taking out motorcycle rallies, closing down shops, stopping RTC buses, staging rasta rokos and avoiding and preventing arrests. In Cyberabad, police arrested 598 activists when they participated in the bandh. Police also booked 27 persons under section 151 IPC and 6 persons were arrested by police in connection with damaging a RTC bus in Kondapur.
