Why This Veteran Actor Turned Down Pawan Kalyan-starrer Suswagatham
Directed by Srinivasa Rao Bhimaneni, Suswagatham starred Devayani, Pawan Kalyan and Raghuvaran in the leading roles.

Sobhan Babu is one of the actors who garnered immense love from the audience in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. The actor made his debut with the 1959 film Daiva Balam which was a hit at the box office. But did you know that he is the same actor who declined an offer to star in the 1998 Pawan Kalyan starrer Suswagatham?

Initially, the makers considered Sobhan Babu for the role of Pawan Kalyan’s father. But as he declined the offer, the role was offered to Raghuvaran.

Billed as a romantic drama, Suswagatham hit the silver screens on January 1, 1998. Directed by Srinivasa Rao Bhimaneni, the film starred Devayani, Pawan Kalyan and Raghuvaran in the leading roles. The other cast of the film included Prakash Raj, Ganesh Babu, and Karan among others. Produced by RB Choudary under the Super Good Films banner, the film was a success at the box office.

Pawan Kalyan is currently juggling his political responsibilities with a series of films. Notably, he is set to star in the forthcoming movie OG, directed by Sujeeth and produced by Danayya. Priyanka Mohan has been cast as the female lead in this upcoming film.

The team has revealed that the film is scheduled for a grand release on September 27. Interestingly, on September 27, 2013, Pawan Kalyan’s film Attarintiki Daredi, directed by Trivikram, achieved massive success. Given that OG is also releasing on the same date, fans of Power Star are speculating that history might repeat itself at the box office. Thaman has composed the music for this gangster drama genre movie.

Meanwhile, as per the latest update, Pawan Kalyan is slated to appear in a remake, teaming up with director Atlee and producer Trivikram Srinivas. His other upcoming films also include Ustaad Bhagat Singh and Hari Hara Veera Mallu.

On the other hand, Sobhan Babu is known for his roles in over 60 films, including Bhakta Sabari, Daiva Balam, Sarada, Soggadu, Jeevana Jyoti, and Kurukshetra. He achieved four Filmfare Awards South for Best Actor for Bangaru Panjaram at the 4th IFFI. Babu got married to Santha Kumari and had four children. The actor passed away in Chennai on March 20, 2008.
