Did you know you can use the PayPal app to pay a store in person? To make the payment, you'll just launch the PayPal app, scan the store's PayPal QR code, enter the amount, and confirm your payment. Be sure you're using the official PayPal app, as you won't be able to do this through Apple Wallet's tap-to-pay. Open the PayPal app. Tap the QR code icon in the top-right corner, and then tap "Get Started" to set up your payments.
Select a preferred payment method and preferred currency conversion method. Then tap "Confirm and Finish Setup".

Setting Up Touch Free Payments

Open the PayPal app. Before you're in the checkout line, make sure you have PayPal's touch-free payments service ready to use on your iPhone. You can download PayPal for iOS in the App Store. Start by opening the PayPal app, which is the blue-and-white "P" icon in your app list. You can only use your iPhone or iPad to make a touch-free PayPal payment at locations that accept PayPal. These places have their own QR codes you can scan with the PayPal app to make your purchase. The QR code may be near the register or on a digital screen. If you aren't already logged in, use your email address and password to do so now. If you don't have PayPal, you'll need to set up an account and verify it.

Select a preferred currency conversion method. You can select between PayPal and Card Issuer. Tap one, and then tap Next.

Tap Confirm and Finish Setup. This is the blue button on the bottom. You're all set to pay at the register with PayPal!

Making a Touch-Free Payment

Locate the store's PayPal QR code. Just ask the cashier and they'll point it out or show you where to find it on the checkout screen. Some small business owners may simply open their own PayPal app to display the QR code for you to scan. Don't be alarmed by this! If there is no QR code available, you won't be able to make an in-store payment with PayPal.

Open the PayPal app. It’s the blue icon with a white “P” inside. You’ll usually find it on the home screen. If you're not already logged in, enter your email address and password to do so now.

Tap the QR code icon in the top-right corner. This will be next to the profile icon. The In-Person & QR Code page will open.

Tap Scan. This will be the top-left tile. Your camera will open. You may be asked to allow permission. Tap Allow to be redirected to Settings. Toggle on Camera, and then return to the PayPal app. Navigate to the Scan tile again.

Align the store's PayPal QR code in the camera viewfinder. Once the QR code lines up, you'll be prompted to enter a payment amount.

Enter the amount of your purchase. Make sure to enter the total amount as requested by the cashier.

Tap Pay Now. This sends your payment to the seller. You can find your payment history in PayPal's Activity page.

Use "Show to Pay" (optional). Alternatively, you can show the store your QR code to pay. Tap Show to Pay to open your unique QR code and barcode. Let the cashier scan the code. Confirm the payment with Pay Now.
