How to Get a Parrot Off Your Shoulder
Jump down from a high level or otherwise lose elevation. Hopping down from a higher surface typically gets a parrot to fly off your shoulder, as well as: Heading down a hill Flying to a lower elevation (with an Elytra equipped) Setting off a firework rocket
Go to bed. Some Minecraft enthusiasts find that crafting and climbing into a bed makes a parrot hop off the player’s shoulder.
Swim for a little while. Head to a nearby body of water (like a river or ocean) and swim—the parrot should leave your shoulder once you jump in.
Take damage or get killed. While this method isn’t ideal, getting attacked by hostile mobs or dying can get a parrot off your shoulder.
Command your parrot to sit to keep it from getting back on your shoulder. Sitting parrots stay stationary and won’t fly back over to you: PC/Mac: Right-click Xbox: LT PlayStation: L2 Nintendo Switch: ZL Mobile: Tap Sit
How to Tame Parrots
Feed the parrot any type of wild seed. Hold some wheat seeds in your hand and right-click (PC/Mac) on the parrot (or use the corresponding console control). Continue feeding the parrot until red hearts appear around it—that’s how you know you’ve tamed it. All types of seeds work for this, including melon seeds, pumpkin seeds, beetroot seeds, and even cocoa beans.
Walk directly through the parrot. Crossing the parrot’s path causes it to fly over and perch on your shoulder.
Collect up to 2 parrots on your shoulders. Repeat this process with multiple parrots to get 2 parrots perching on your shoulders.
