Sony is determined to rekindle the interest of moviegoers in theatres with their upcoming comedy film Anyone But You, directed by Will Gluck. During the recent presentation at CinemaCon, Sony unveiled the trailer for this screwball comedy. Starring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell, the movie tells the story of two individuals who have a deep-rooted dislike for each other and yet find themselves irresistibly drawn to one another. The plot unfolds in Sydney and follows their misadventures on various vacations, from falling off boats to encountering large spiders.

The film, according to Entertainment Weekly, is loosely inspired by William Shakespeare’s classic Much Ado About Nothing. The plot revolves around Bea (played by Sweeney) and Ben (played by Powell), former college classmates who are compelled to pretend to be a couple while attending their mutual friend’s destination wedding in Australia. Complicating matters, their respective ex-partners are also present at the wedding.
The screenplay, penned by Gluck and Ilana Wolpert, features an ensemble cast, including Alexandra Shipp, GaTa, Hadley Robinson, Michelle Hurd, Dermot Mulroney, Darren Barnet, and Rachel Griffiths. Notably, Sydney Sweeney serves as an executive producer for the film.

While filming the romantic comedy in Australia, Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell, both of whom play leading roles in the movie, were reportedly spotted together on multiple occasions, both on and off the set. This led to rumours of a romantic connection between the two.
Further fueling speculation, Sydney, aged 26, affectionately referred to Glen, who is 34, as “Top Gun" during an April event at CinemaCon. In response, Glen playfully embraced the nickname, stating, “I love it when she calls me that," reports E! Entertainment.
Despite the ongoing rumours, Sydney and Glen have not commented on the issue. Glen had separated from his girlfriend of three years, Gigi Paris, in April this year.
On their respective work fronts, Sydney Sweeney, known for her roles in the popular series Euphoria and films like Reality and Americana, has exciting projects on the horizon, including Marvel’s Madame Web and Echo Valley. Meanwhile, Glen Powell, recognised for his role in the Top Gun sequel and films like Devotion and Hit Man, is set to appear in upcoming projects such as Twisters and Most Dangerous Game.
Anyone But You is scheduled to hit theatres in December.
