Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom or Aquaman 2 — the sequel to the 2018 action-adventure film Aquaman is one of the most-anticipated films of 2023. The film’s trailer dropped on September 15, created a stir among the masses. Now, the release of the latest Japanese international trailer of Aquaman 2 has piqued the interest of fans further. Amidst this, the makers decided to share a new poster of the James Wan directorial. Although it featured Jason Momoa and Patrik Wilson in their superhero avatars, eagle-eyed DC enthusiasts pointed out that Amber Heard was missing from the poster, supposedly after her much-public defamation trial with Johnny Depp.

Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom’s poster was dropped on social media on November 13. “It’s time for Atlantis to rise. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom – Only in theaters December 22,” read the caption. The poster captured Jason Momoa and Patrik Wilson reprising their roles of Arthur Curry aka Aquaman and Orm aka Ocean Master. The duo sported intense looks, with Jason donning a golden fin-like costume and holding a trident, while Patrik wore black attire. Along with the picture, accompanied by a tagline that read, “The tide is turning”. However, unlike the previous poster of Aquaman, Amber Heard was missing from the picture. She plays the role of Mera in the film.

Soon after the poster was released, social media users expressed their disappointment at Amber Heard’s absence from the poster. The hashtag “We want Mera” started trending on X (formerly X). While one user commented, “We need an Aquaman 2 poster with Mera” another agreed, “Who cares we wanna see Mera”. “Only watching for Mera so you can quit it with the buddy adventure angle. I don’t care about these men,” wrote a third individual. “We want our Mera! This movie is going to be absolute drivel and the only reason I watched the first one was for Mera!” came another remark.

According to an earlier report by Variety, certain scenes involving Amber Heard were removed from Aquaman 2. In particular, “At least two Heard scenes were cut from Aquaman 2 — an action sequence that found Mera fighting Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) and a love scene with Momoa,” read the report.

Scheduled to release on December 22, Aquaman 2 will revolve around how Aquaman and Orm forge an uncanny alliance to protect Atlantis from devastation when an evil power is unleashed.
