Jennie, a beloved member of the K-pop group Blackpink, enjoys immense popularity not only for her singing skills but also as a fashion icon for prestigious brands. Currently, she’s making headlines after she purchased a luxurious property at UN Village in Seoul, South Korea. Reports from a local media outlet, Biz Hankook, indicated that the singer invested a staggering 5 billion KRW (approximately Rs 31 Crore) entirely in cash for her new residence. The high profile acquisition took place at La Terrasse Hannam, known as a celebrity hot spot in the country. Amidst controversies and speculations about Blackpink’s contract renewals with YG Entertainment, Jennie’s purchase has grabbed a lot of attention.
The idol initially started the process on July 28 and secured her residence on the second floor of La Terrasse Hannam. She completed the move in formalities quickly. As per reports, the purchased property is spread across 244.97 square meters (2,636 square feet), featuring 5 rooms and 3 bathrooms. La Terrace Hannam became popular as it was the former residence of actor Lee Jong-seok, known for his relationship with singer IU, before he relocated to Nine One Hannam. Despite moving, Lee still owns the property.
Interestingly, Blackpink’s Jennie had signed the contract for her property in February 2021. Usually, upon signing a real estate deal in South Korea, 10% of the sale price is given as a down payment to the seller and later, full ownership is transferred once the remaining balance is settled within 6 months. However, in Jenny’s case, she initially paid 500 million won (approximately Rs 3 Crore) to the seller in February 2021 and the remaining 4.5 billion won was paid in the recent months, which is considered an unusually extended period for finalizing the payment.
Prior to relocating to La Terrasse Hannam, Jennie resided in a rented property at The House, another swanky villa situated close to her newest residence. Interestingly, South Korean celebrities Sean and Jeong Hye-young also live in the same complex, along with Gangnam Style fame, Psy is also an owner of a unit within the area.
Recently, the singer celebrated Pepero Day on November 11 along with the staff and production crew of the upcoming show Apartment 404, where she’s set to be a permanent cast member. During the celebration, she gifted Pepero snacks and the producer even thanked the idol for preparing gifts for everyone. Apart from Blackpink Singer, other personalities like Yoo Jae Suk, Yang Se Chan from Running Man, Oh Na Ra from Alchemy of Soul, Cha Tae Hyun from Moving and Lee Jung Ha were recently spotted filming the show.
