Roma: Roma's sporting director Walter Sabatini has underlined his determination to keep Italian international midfielder Daniele De Rossi at the Stadio Olimpico.
De Rossi has been linked with a move away from the club this summer, particularly as his contract expires in 12 months' time. However, far from fearing the loss of their prized asset without receiving a transfer fee, Roma are in the process of offering De Rossi a new deal.
"Any potential transfer of Daniele De Rossi is not on our agenda. Furthermore, what is on the agenda is the renewal of his contract," Sabatini is quoted as saying by Gazzetta dello Sport.
Although nothing has yet been finalised between the two parties, Sabatini believes that the club will make the midfielder an offer that will see the 27-year-old remain with the side he has played for throughout his professional career.
"We are working with confidence and we have a lot of time," he stated. "I spoke directly to De Rossi - not even his agent was present.
"It was a very informal chat and very friendly. He gave no definite answer. We will talk to his agent and then make an offer."
