Liverpool: Brendan Rodgers has been unveiled as the new Liverpool manager. The former Swansea City man replaces Kenny Dalglish, who was sacked after a disappointing eight-place finish in the Premier League, despite reaching the FA Cup and League Cup finals, winning the latter.
Rodgers comes to Anfield with only four years of managerial experience, after, in addition to the Welsh side, stints at Watford and Reading.
The 39-year-old received much praise and adulation for adopting a possession-based passing game in Swansea's debut season in the top flight, seeing it reap rewards with a highly-respectable 11th-place finish.
The newly-appointed manager admitted that he could not ignore the lure of managing Liverpool, despite initially planning to stay at the Liberty Stadium for "a number of years"
He told the Liverpool Echo: "For me, the only way I was going to leave Swansea was for a big club, and I mean a big club," Rodgers said. "It was an extremely, extremely difficult decision because my plan was always to stay here at Swansea for a number of years.
"I have always been up front and honest. I have always said that I wouldn’t be here forever and that one day I would go, but I honestly never thought the opportunity would come round now. In my life and in my football, I have been very happy in Swansea."

They have won five European Cups and their status is up there with AC Milan, Inter Milan, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich."
