Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez thinks it's time to prove Germany's oracle octopus wrong.

Port Elizabeth: Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez thinks it's time to prove Germany's oracle octopus wrong.

Tabarez said on Friday that he is not superstitious but the selection of Germany by octopus oracle Paul to win the third-place playoff is "another motivation" for his team.

A smiling Tabarez says "it's not just a matter of beating Germany but also beating the octopus" in Saturday's match at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

The octopus has correctly predicted the result of all six of Germany's games — including the semifinal loss to Spain — and five out of six matches at the 2008 European Championship.

Tabarez says strikers Diego Forlan and Luis Suarez will both start when Uruguay attempts its best World Cup finish in 60 years.

What's your reaction?
