Manchester Derby: United nails City
City had hardly settled down when United fired the first salvo

New Delhi: Emotions were bound to run high. This was the Manchester Derby. United versus City, an old rivalry with some new ammunition.

City had hardly settled down when United fired the first salvo, who else but Wayne Rooney in the second minute.

Carlos Tevez was determined to make an impression as he returned to his former club, City's equaliser was all Tevez as fellow newcomer Gareth Barry scored.

1-1 at the break but United came out storming, veteran Ryan Giggs sending in the perfect cross and Darren Fletcher got the header.

The theatre of dreams was still celebrating when City struck back a thunderous Craig Bellamy strike.

United were piling the pressure and City keeper Shay Given was a busy man as he denied the likes of Dimitar Berbatov and Giggs.

Ten minutes to go and the citadel was breached again, Giggs combining again with Fletcher.

And then another blunder handing City a lifeline, Rio Ferdinands shocker giving City the opportunity, Bellamy had his second.

3-3 and it looked like a point apiece, but the 4 added minutes stretched to six and that gave United time for this, Michael Owen sending the home fans wild with the final nail in the coffin.

Mark Hughes wasn’t happy. Sir Alex over the moon.

What's your reaction?
