Girona put up a phenomenal performance last season to finish third on the La Liga points table and earn Champions League qualification. Following their spectacular achievement, players of the Catalan club have come on the radar of some big teams. Captain Aleix Garcia has already signed a new contract with Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen while a few others are set to play for their parent club next season.
In this situation, Girona are required to re-arrange their squad during this summer transfer window. They are reportedly discussing deals for three players with neighbouring club Barcelona. According to a report by Diario AS, both the Spanish sides have initiated talks regarding Oriol Romeu, Eric Garcia and Pau Victor. Romeu parted ways with Girona last summer and joined Barcelona, signing a contract worth around €3-4 million.

The 32-year-old defensive midfielder made a promising start at Barcelona but failed to continue the momentum. He had fallen down the pecking order in the second half of the last season and appeared as a substitute in most of the games.
With Barcelona aiming to sign a new midfielder this summer, Oriol Romeu is almost confirmed to leave the club. Girona are reportedly interested in re-signing the Spanish footballer. They, however, do not want to pay a transfer fee for Romeu, as reported by Catalunya Radio. It is, however, unlikely for Barcelona to release Romeu as a free agent.

Girona are also assessing the possibility of bringing back Eric Garcia, who played for them as a loanee last season. The newly appointed Barcelona boss, Hansi Flick, however, wants Garcia in his squad and may block his potential loan move to Girona.
Meanwhile, Pau Victor, who graduated from the Girona academy, demonstrated his talent for Barcelona’s reserve team last season. The 22-year-old striker made 39 appearances across all competitions and netted 20 goals while providing six assists. Impressed by his attacking style of play, the Barcelona hierarchy now wants to secure another loan deal with Girona, keeping Victor at the club for at least one more season.
