East Bengal appoint Brazilian Falopa as new head coach
The 64-year-old Falopa replaces Trevor Morgan who had a successful three-year stint with the red-and-gold brigade.

Kolkata: Brazilian Marcos Falopa was on Wednesday appointed as the new head coach of Kingfisher East Bengal for the upcoming season replacing Trevor Morgan, who had a successful three-year stint with the red-and-gold brigade.

The 64-year-old Falopa has visited over 100 countries as a FIFA instructor and has immense experience as a coach. Falopa was the assistant coach of Brazilian national team during 1986-1988. He would be assisted by his son Americo Falopa as goalkeeper coach cum physical trainer.

The club management decided to sign Falopa on a one year contract after initially going through names like Argentinean Rodolfo Zapata and 1990 Netherlands World Cupper Johannes Maria van Loen.

Morgan had quit in October last year, hours after the club won the Kolkata Premier Division football league, amid speculation of growing differences with club officials. Morgan, who was allegedly unhappy with the bossy style of some club officials, had mailed his resignation to the club.

Under Morgan, the club had finished third in 2012-13 I-league winning 13 of their 26 matches and also won the Federation Cup.
