New Delhi: The two best players of the past two years have lavished praised on inarguably the most in-form club in football today, Barcelona.
Cristiano Ronaldo on Monday succeeded Kaka as the best player of the year as anointed by FIFA and the two flamboyant magicians on the pitch clearly showed their penchant for the philosophy of joga bonito.
The duo held a press conference prior to FIFA World Player of the Year presentation gala in Zurich and both showered praise on one of the most impressive club teams at present, runaway La Liga leaders, Barcelona.
"We in Milan follow very closely what happens in Spain. It is very interesting to watch Barcelona’s matches because they have one of the best teams and I believe that they play the best football at the moment and we can all see that," said Kaka.
Ronaldo, meanwhile, continued to tease Spanish fans as he confessed his admiration for the league’s big two superpowers: "Personally, I like to watch Barça and Real Madrid play.
"I believe that in 2009, Barça will be a real force and they will be the favourites to win La Liga and the Champions League," he added.
The Blaugrana’s own superstar player, Lionel Messi came in second behind Ronaldo in the FIFA World Player ceremony.
