The promotional campaign for the fourth instalment of the Bad Boys film franchise, Ride or Die, is in full swing. To add more hype to the upcoming film, Smith along with his co-star Martin Lawrence called upon Inter Miami’s finest, Messi, for help.

Football fans have been treated to a rare sight after a clip of Lionel Messi speaking English went viral. The Argentine footballer put his acting skills to the test, featuring in a promo alongside Hollywood actor Will Smith. The promotional campaign for the fourth instalment of the Bad Boys film franchise, Ride or Die, is in full swing. To add more hype to the upcoming film, Smith along with his co-star Martin Lawrence called upon Inter Miami’s finest for help. A fan page has now shared the clip of the ad video on Instagram where the Argentine knocks on Smith’s door. The actor opens the door alongside his co-star and is taken aback by the football icon’s presence. Messi then hilariously asks, “Bad Boys?”

After Messi asked for the Bad Boys, Smith and Lawrence hilariously shut the footballer out. They say, “Wrong Casa. Yeah…they live down…Bad Boys are at the other thing…Mucho Gusto!” The hilarious interaction between some of the biggest global stars has left several fans in chuckles. One of them wrote, “I watched it again to believe my ears.”

Another said in a hilarious reply that Messi’s English was no different than Spanish. “Even the English sounds like Spanish,” he wrote.

“Messi is close to speaking Yoruba language more than English,” one jokingly said.

A netizen said that he never thought he would ever hear the Argentine legend speak English. “I never thought this day would come.”

“Rooney who? This is the Greatest English football player to ever exist”, joked another fan.

While most fans are surprised to see Messi speak in English, an Inter Miami teammate Julian Gressel had already witnessed the rare sight earlier this year. Speaking on the Player/Manager podcast, Gressel shared a story from Miami’s pre-season. “That was the first time he’d [Messi] spoken to me in English, during the game. He was covering his mouth, like he always does and goes, ‘Now we change. You stay and Jordi [Alba] runs. Jordi goes more in behind,’ and I was just like, ‘Yes, okay, okay. Sounds good,’” he said.

Messi might not have the necessary acting skills to join the Bad Boys cast on screen but the Argentine continues to deliver in his day job. Earlier this month, Messi made Major League Soccer history by recording the most goal contributions and assists in a single match. Thanks to his heroics, Inter Miami won that match 6-2 over the New York Bulls. The David Beckham-co-owned side will play their next league fixture this Thursday, May 30, as they take on Atlanta United at the Chase Stadium.
