When East Delhi's Bhavik Bansal Topped NEET UG 2019 With A Score Of 700
Bansal's parents, both government officials, were quite confident that their son would do well.

An East Delhi boy named Bhavik Bansal made history in his family when he learned that he achieved AIR 2 in all India in the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET), the entrance exams for medical and dental colleges in 2019. He cracked the exam when he was 18 years and he will be the first in his family to become a doctor.

Bansal’s parents, both government officials, were quite confident that their son would do well. “His first preference is AIIMS and he has registered for the entrance test there too. The results will be announced on June 12 and we are sure he will do well there too,” said the mother, Seema Bansal, a physics lecturer. The teenager’s father is an accountant with the Delhi government.

Bansal graduated from Vivekanand School in Anand Vihar with 93.5% in the Class XII CBSE exams. He scored 700 out of 720 in NEET, though it was his second option, as the first was AIIMS.

Bhavik also took full-time classes and two exam preparation series. “The calculations in the AIIMS exam are never easy. No one formula fits. Hence, it is time-consuming and one needs to master both the concept and speed to be accurate in the exam. I studied a particular topic extensively in class 12 and prepared specifically. I also always took books for the entrance exam to school and utilized the time I had”, he said.

“I don’t like watching TV. But I watch stand-up comedy on YouTube to relax. Online media allows one to watch content that one prefers and enjoys,” he added.

He secured 700 out of 720 marks with 100 percentile in the NEET UG 2019 exam. In class 12, he secured 93 percentile marks. He dreamed of joining AIIMS from the very beginning and prepared accordingly. He prepared through two test series and full-time coaching. He particularly focused on physics and organic chemistry.

After securing second rank in the NEET UG exam, Bhavik Bansal got admission to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi. In 2019, more than two lakh students appeared for the exam for 1207 seats in AIIMS, in which Bansal secured the top position. Bansal, who also excelled in the 2019 NEET exam, watched stand-up comedy on YouTube to relieve stress during the exam. He believes that the syllabus of the board and NEET were almost the same and that NCERT books are as important as Gita.

Bhavik Bansal ranked among the top 5 performers in the NEET UG and completed his MBBS degree from AIIMS Delhi. According to his LinkedIn profile, he has been working as a full-time intern at AIIMS since January 2024. His interests include data science, and machine learning and their applications in public health, clinical research and medicine. Bhavik’s hobbies include cricket, table tennis, blogging, debating, long walks and philosophical conversations.
