The UPSC Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2024, is scheduled to be held on June 16, 2024, across the nation at various exam centres. The UPSC has released the admit cards for this examination and some guidelines as well that need to be adhered to strictly. Let’s take a look at the guidelines.

Dress Code

There is no special dress code for the UPSC examination, but the aspirants should opt for comfortable, light-coloured, and modest clothing on the exam day. The female candidates should avoid wearing costly accessories or heels. The candidates should not wear smartwatches and only choose normal wristwatches.

Arrive at the exam centre 30 minutes early

The UPSC aspirants should attempt a total of 2 papers in the UPSC CSE Prelims exam. The first examination will be held from 09:30 am to 11:30 am, while the second paper will be held from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm. UPSC has mentioned that all the candidates should arrive at the exam centre at least 30 minutes before the actual time. The candidates are prohibited from entering the exam centre after the stipulated time.

Things not allowed in the exam

Candidates are not permitted to enter the examination premises with any valuable items, mobile phones, smart/digital watches, other IT gadgets, books and bags. Failing to do so will result in a ban on their participation in future attempts. Venue supervisors will not make any arrangements for keeping these items at the venue.

Things to carry during the exam

Participants will be allowed to take with them only an e-admit Card, pen, pencil, identity proof, and copies of self-photographs (whichever is applicable). They can be permitted to take any other items as specified in the Instructions of the e-Admit Card to the venue. No other items shall be allowed to be taken inside the examination hall.

The UPSC Prelims exam was scheduled to be held on May 26, but then deferred to June 16 due to general elections. The general election for the 18th Lok Sabha commenced on April 19.
