The Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER), Tirupati has launched a new one-year Professional Master’s programme tailored for students and professionals aiming to advance in Data Science and related fields. The programme offers two specialisations — Biological Data Science (BioDS) and Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Interested candidates can apply via the official website at iisertirupati.ac.in. Applications will remain open until July 31, with classes beginning on August 8.
Classes will be conducted in a hybrid format to accommodate industry participants, combining in-person and online sessions. The curriculum is designed innovatively, encompassing diverse topics, industry projects, and practical training to cater to both newcomers and mid-career professionals.
Eligibility Criteria:
— A four-year Bachelor’s degree in Science or Technology or a Master’s degree in Science or Technology.
— A minimum of 60 per cent aggregate marks or a CGPA of 6.0 out of 10.0 for Bachelor’s degree holders and 55 per cent aggregate marks or a CGPA of 5.5 out of 10.0 for Master’s degree holders.
— Professionals from industry or other organisations, fresh graduates, and mid-career professionals can also apply.
Programme-wise Eligibility:
— For Professional Master’s in BioDS: Candidates with a B.Tech in Biotechnology, BS/M.Sc. in Bioinformatics, or M.Sc. from any Biology discipline (with exposure to Bioinformatics) can apply.
— For Professional Master’s in DS-AI: Apart from meeting the common eligibility criteria, students must have studied Mathematics at the Class 12 level.
Programme Fees:
The applications are only accepted online with a non-refundable fee of Rs. 1000. The total programme fee stands at Rs. 2.6 lakhs.
It’s important to submit applications on time and ensure they are complete, as late or incomplete submissions will not be considered. The Institute reserves the right to cancel admissions without explanation if any information in the application form is found to be suppressed or distorted. IISER Tirupati’s Professional Master’s programme comprises two semesters. The first semester focuses on Mathematics, Programming for Data Science, and an Introductory course on Machine Learning. Meanwhile, the second semester will cover topics on Deep Learning, specialised AI topics, and a hands-on project.
