'We Have to Learn and Move on', Says RR Skipper Sanju Samson After Gut-wrenching Loss Against GT
RR captain Sanju Samson was visibly dejected after the defeat as the hosts let the game slip after being firmly in command for the majority of it. The defeat brought RR's unbeaten run in the ongoing edition of the IPL to a grinding halt. Samson opined that it was the nature of the sport and the tournament.

Gujarat Titans pulled off an incredible win over Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur on Wednesday as the visitors managed to chase down a target of 197 with 3 wickets to spare, thanks to match-winning knocks from skipper Shubman Gill, Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia that helped Gujarat over the line.

RR captain Sanju Samson was visibly dejected after the defeat as the hosts let the game slip after being firmly in command for the majority of it.

When quizzed about the moment the game slipped away from them, a crestfallen Samson said it was at the very end of the game and one of the most challenging parts of being a skipper was to elucidate details of games that end in defeats.

“I think (we lost it in) the last ball of the game,” Samson said.

“Very hard to speak at the moment. The hardest job in the tournament is when a captain loses the game and has to tell where the game was lost. When the emotions come down I’ll be able to tell clearly,” he revealed.

Samson explained that he felt the total of 196 they managed to put up was defendable total.

“While I was batting I thought something around 180 would’ve been a fighting score. 196 was a winning score I thought,” he explained.

“With no dew, our bowling lineup should’ve done it. It wasn’t easy to go hard at the start of the innings. 197 at Jaipur, without dew, we’ll take it any day,” he continued.

The defeat brought RR’s unbeaten run in the ongoing edition of the IPL to a grinding halt. Samson lauded the valiant efforts of GT and opined that it was the nature of the sport and the tournament.

“Have to give credit to the Gujarat Titans. That’s the beauty of this tournament. Will have to learn and move on,” Sasmon added.
