India’s Zimbabwe tour concluded on Sunday with the young squad, led by Shubman Gill, clinching the five-match T20I series 4-1. The post-match celebrations included awarding ‘fielder of the series’ medal for which there seem to be two contenders – Ravi Bishnoi and Rinku Singh.

Subhadeep Ghosh, the fielding coach of the tour, touched upon the importance of catching which he felt can help a side take control of a game.
“As I always say, catching is very, very important. If you take the catches, you can control the game, you can dominate the game, which we did today,” Ghosh said before announcing the winner.
It was Rinku who pipped Bishnoi for the award and it triggered a hilarious reaction from captain Gill who gave the young spinner a ‘beating’.

“Every time he (Rinku) steps on the ground I think he always says high standard,” Ghosh said.
Rinku’s teammate demanded a speech which the 26-year-old eventually agreed to after initially showing some reluctance.
“First of all, God’s Plan! It was a pleasure playing with you. To be honest, I like fielding more than batting,” he said.
“There was a brief cameo from the incumbent fielding coach T Dilip too who sent a video message to the India squad. “Boys, fielding has always been a paramount to us in Indian cricket and its an aspect of the game where we have set high standards over the years. We should aim to continue to strive for excellence in this area,” he said.
India will next return to action with the Sri Lanka tour that starts later this month. The two teams will square off in three T20Is and as many ODIs.
