Praising Anderson’s magical bowling, one user posted, “You are the best bowler in the world in test cricket, you will be always remembered for your out swing and in swing. You are greatest fast bowler in history of test cricket.”
Anderson picked up one wicket conceding 26 runs in 10.4 overs in the first innings. He dismissed Jayden Seales for two runs as the Caribbean outfit was skittled for 121.
Anderson was told by the team management that they are looking ahead into the future and aim to build a squad for the 2025-26 Ashes series in Australia.
“I wouldn’t say it was a surprise because when the three big dogs invited me to a hotel in Manchester for a chat I didn’t think it was just a normal appraisal,” Anderson told media ahead of the series opener.
“I had a suspicion that that was going to be the case. I think they were surprised at how calm I was when I reacted. I think I was probably surprised at my reaction. I wasn’t overly emotional about it or angry about it or anything,” he added.
England ended the opening day’s play at 189 for three. Zak Crawley and Ollie Pope scored half-century each.
