T20 World Cup: Team India's Practice Session in Florida Cancelled Today Due to Rain
Rain and thunderstorms are predicted for the remainder of the week in Florida with India scheduled to take on Canada in Lauderhill on Saturday.

The Indian men’s cricket team’s practice session in Florida for June 14 has been cancelled due to rain. Team India are slated to take on Canada at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill on Saturday.

Rohit Sharma and Co. have so far won all their matches in the group stage at the 2024 T20 World Cup, beating Ireland by eight wickets in their opening game, and then defeating Pakistan by six runs in the low-scoring thriller. India ended their campaign in New York’s Nassau County International Cricket Stadium by getting the better of the USA by a comfortable 7-wicket margin.

Rain and thunderstorms are predicted for the remainder of the week during which India, Pakistan, Ireland and Canada have fixtures scheduled in Florida.

The last game at Lauderhill, between Sri Lanka and Nepal, had to be abandoned without a ball being bowled on June 12 and hosts USA will be going up against Ireland later on Friday. Pakistan are also slated to take on Ireland at the same ground on Sunday.

It is pertinent to note that Lauderhill is an hour north of Miami, where a flood-like situation has wreaked havoc for locals.

With things looking bleak, in terms of a game of cricket going forward, it may be the end of the campaign for Pakistan.

Only two teams from each of the four groups advance to the second stage. So Pakistan need to win its remaining games against Canada and Ireland and also hope the results of other group games go in their favour to progress to the Super 8s.

Pakistan have to win against Ireland by a big margin and hope that the USA don’t beat Ireland for a chance to go through to the Super Eight.

India are assured of a place in the next stage of the tournament and will clash against Australia at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St Lucia on June 24.

With pre-tournament seedings deciding the Super 8 stage, it does not matter whether they finish first or second in their respective groups, India and Australia will find themselves in the same Group.

Shubman Gill and Avesh Khan will leave the squad after India’s last group game against Canada.
