IND vs IRE, T20 WC 2024: Arshdeep's Twin Strikes Put Ireland on the Backfoot and Register Their Lowest Powerplay Score - WATCH
India started off the T20 World Cup in style as Arshdeep Singh's double wicket over put Ireland under massive pressure as they set their lowest ever powerplay score in their history in the T20 showpiece event.

The Indian bowlers wreaked havoc during the powerplay against Ireland in their opening game at the T20 World Cup 2024. The Men in Blue managed to take advantage of the conditions at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York to deliver a masterclass in how to ball with the new ball as Ireland conceded their lowest-ever score in the powerplay in their history in the T20 World Cup.

The decision taken by Rohit Sharma to field first served the Indian team in good stead as Arshdeep Singh who was given the fresh new ball, was able to get some swing straight away which kept the Irish batters real quiet.

In Arshdeep’s second over, he managed to deliver his first wicket by getting rid of the big fish, Paul Stirling. The two-paced nature of the pitch came into play as there was some extra bounce on offer on the delivery that was pitched on the leg-stump line but got the top edge which went high in the air but the wicketkeeper, Rishabh Pant took the catch comfortably.

He got his second wicket of the day in the same over and this time the ball kept slightly lower. The delivery was pitched on a length and in the middle-stump line and beat Andrew Balbirnie to crash onto the stumps.

Despite getting the odd boundary here and there, Jasprit Bumrah, India’s ace in the hole was brought in for the final over of the powerplay and any sign of an attacking intent was shut down right away with the pacer getting away with the maiden.
