At least 11 people died, including four children, in three separate accidents in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. The four deceased children were on the way to appear in Uttar Pradesh board examinations in Shahjahanpur when the vehicle they were travelling in lost control and hit a tree.
At least six other students were also injured in the accident while they were going to a school in Jaitipur in a car for the test, the police said.
Police said the vehicle hit a tree and fell into a ditch near Jarawav village, Additional SP (City) Sanjay Kumar said.
Anurap Khushwaha (15), Anurag Srivastava (14), and Pratishtha Mishra (15) died on the spot while one Mohini Maurya (16) died in the hospital. Six others who are injured are undergoing treatment at a medical college where their condition was stated to be stable, he said.
6 Dead In Ballia Accident
Six people died and 10 were injured when a pickup van collided with two other vehicles in the Bairia area of Ballia in the early hours of Tuesday. The incident occurred around 2.30 am in the Sughar Chhapra turn in Bairia, police said
The deceased were identified as Amit Kumar Gupta (46), Ranjit Sharma (32), Yash Gupta (9), Raj Gupta (11) and Rajendra Gupta (50). The identity of the other person who died in the incident is being ascertained. All the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.
Of those injured, the condition of four was stated to be serious and they were referred to Varanasi, Superintendent of Police Dev Ranjan Verma.
The victims were returning from a marriage function, according to police.
2 Dead In Boiler Explosion In Meerut
Two employees of a tyre factory in a village in the Incholi area of Meerut were killed and three injured when a boiler exploded on Tuesday. The incident took place in Phitkari village around 5 am.
While Shankar (30) and Praveen (22) were killed, the three workers injured were rushed to a hospital nearby and are in stable condition, Senior Superintendent of Police Rohit Singh Sajwan said.
The factory recycles used tyres, taking out oil and wires from them. Initial investigations showed the boiler exploded due to excessive pressure, police said.
5 Killed as SUV Rams into Dumper in Gujarat
Five persons were killed and two others injured after a speeding sports utility vehicle (SUV) rammed into a stationary dumper in Dholka town of Gujarat’s Ahmedabad district on Tuesday morning, police said.
The accident occurred at around 5 am when the SUV hit the dumper at the roadside on a highway near the town, an official from Dholka police station said.
The SUV was on its way to Dahod from Botad district in Gujarat, the official said.
Five men were killed in the incident. A woman was among the two persons who received injuries and they were taken to a government hospital in Ahmedabad, he said.
