Fans in Yellow Shell-shocked as Harshal Patel Cleans Up MS Dhoni for a Golden Duck: Watch

It was a massive heartbreak for the fans at the picture-esque Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala as they were shocked to see the legendary MS Dhoni being dismissed for a golden duck against Punjab Kings in the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League.

Fans were cheering for Thala well before he was even out in the middle. Harshal Patel’s wicket of Shardul Thakur in the penultimate over of the first innings and the fans finally witnessed the legend walk out at number 9, for the first time in his career. But it was an anti-climax that followed.

Harshal showcased his prowess in the death overs by utilising the slower delivery which dipped in slightly and went on to break the stumps, uprooting the off-stump in the process.

The Chennai Super Kings have had a slump in form and now have the task of defending a total of 168 runs at Dharamsala against PBKS.

The Chennai batters have struggled to keep going with wickets falling at regular intervals. Ravindra Jadeja was the pick of the batters scoring 43 in 26 balls to help the side post a total which is average at best.

Rahul Chahar also proved to be a handful as he got the big wickets of the skipper, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube in consecutive deliveries to put the batting side under massive pressure.

Harshal also delivered the big wicket of Daryl Mitchell who looked to continue his string of performances in Dharamsala which stretches back to the recently concluded ODI World Cup 2023 where he scored a century against India.

Dhoni would have liked to chip in with more runs and stick to the end as the designated finisher, but Harshal’s variations with the older ball proved to be too much for the legendary wicketkeeper-batter.

The CSK bowling unit is also not at the strongest with the attack missing the key pace-bowling duo of Mustafizur Rahman and Matheesha Pathirana. The former has exited the squad for national duties and preparation for the T20 World Cup while the latter has travelled back to Sri Lanka to nurse his hamstring injury.

However, Tushar Deshpande is back in the starting XI along with Richard Gleeson who keeps his spot in the 11 and had a fairly decent debut to start his IPL career along with the addition of Mitchell Santner who comes in place of Mustafizur and will look to
