Well after the trophy presentation, the entire Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) clan – from players to support staff to the family members – was still at the ground. Everyone was sporting special “Champions of 2024” T-shirts and numerous reels were being recorded for social media timelines.
The event team at the venue was busy dismantling the set-up put in place for the presentation ceremony but KKR was in the party mode.
The likes of Venkatesh Iyer, Varun Chakravarthy, Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh obliged fans with a lot of selfies and even distributed some of their gear to the ground staff. Mentor Gautam Gambhir was all smiles when he posed for a family picture with the IPL trophy. His two daughters and wife were with him and all three were wearing the “Champions of 2024” T shirts.

When the family members were done celebrating and clicking, the players and support staff went inside the dressing room for a long celebration.
Owners Shah Rukh Khan, Jay Mehta and Juhi Chawla were with the entire squad and the thunderous applauses after numerous speeches could be heard even outside.
After nearly 45 minutes, the doors of the dressing room finally opened and SRK was the first to walk out as he made his way to the white Mercedes waiting to taking him back to the hotel. Juhi and Jay were next, and they were followed by Managing Director Venky Mysore.
Right behind the owners were the players and White Brown Black by Karan Aujla was blaring on the speaker Nitish Rana was carrying in his hand. The left-hander tried a not-so-melodious sing-along and looked in high spirits. So did skipper Shreyas Iyer who waved to the handful of spectators who had climbed a wall to see the departure of KKR’s team bus.

The trophy was neatly placed on the first seat, adjacent to where Gambhir was seated. The photographs with the coveted piece shining bright in gold continued even in the team bus and from what had happened on the ground, one thing was clear. It was going to be a long night for the KKR unit.
The celebrations didn’t stop there and when they reached the team hotel, a couple of cakes and champagne were waiting for them. Sunil Narine, who celebrated his birthday on May 26, did the cake cutting honours before skipper Shreyas opened a bottle of champagne and sprayed it all over his teammates.
Loud cheers from the group and few people watching from a fair distance continued, so did the champagne shower. It was just the start of what is going to be a big, fat party!
