Fans of Thalapathy Vijay all over the world were left shocked when the actor recently declared that he would soon quit films to mark his political debut. The actor launched his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, and stated that he will not be running in the general elections of 2024 adding that he will instead contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The actor, reportedly, has begun working towards the expansion of his party and generating a loyal vote base. In such a move, the party recently organised welfare programmes.
Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, under the welfare programs, provided chicken biryani and egg meals to around 600 people in Theni, a district in Tamil Nadu. In addition to that, 200 women were provided saree whereas 70 men were presented with vests. On the other hand, agricultural products and rice were also given to many people in the district.
Meanwhile, a report by India Today suggests that the party president has instructed his colleagues to make two crore new members join the party while also highlighting the need for the active participation of women and first-time voters.
Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’s headquarters announced, “We must endeavour to ensure that the general public, including first-time and women voters, become active members of our party.” In addition to that, the party supremo Vijay asked his party colleagues to conduct a district and Assembly-wise membership drive as it will strengthen the party at its grassroots.
The entry of Thalapathy Vijay in the political corridor is expected to result in significant changes in Tamil Nadu politics. Vijay’s active involvement in charitable and social causes through his Vijay Makkal Iyakkam will garner fruitful results for the actor in the elections. Vijay Makkal Iyakkam has been involved in humanitarian activities across the nation and other countries as well.
Meanwhile, Vijay’s upcoming film, titled The Greatest of All Time, also known as GOAT, is creating a lot of buzz among the cinemagoers. The film will be featuring an ensemble cast including Prabhu Deva, Jayaram, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Vaibhav Reddy, Yogi Babu, and Mic Mohan among others in the pivotal roles.
