Raashii Khanna Opens Up About Getting Body-shamed
Raashii Khanna said that she didn't find it bothersome when she experienced internet bullying.

Actress Raashii Khanna is a popular actress in showbiz. She first appeared in a side role in the Hindi film Madras Cafe produced by John Abraham and Nargis Baghrees. Although the film was moderately well received, Raashii Khanna’s character did not receive the expected reception. Thus, the actress turned her attention towards South Indian cinema. Raashi made her debut in Telugu cinema with the film Manam which was released in 2014 and the film got her a good response. After that, her career faced both ups and downs.

Raashii Khanna, like a lot of others in the entertainment industry, received unfair criticism for being overweight. The actress remembered the days when people referred to her as a “gas tanker” in an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble. She disclosed that she experienced bullying and body shaming in the South.

When asked what criticism she had heard the worst of throughout her career, Raashii said, “I think the worst is just that when I first joined, actually I have been lucky with the kind of roles I have got, probably necessary related to my weight, they used to say that I’m a gas tanker in the South when I started.”

“And since I was too big for the mainstream, I kept quiet. Over time, I did get fitter- not to win people over, but because I knew the job required it. Since I was like, “Okay, this is how you feel, say it,” I didn’t find it bothersome when I experienced internet bullying,” the Farzi actress added.

“When one actor leans towards the heavier side, people occasionally tend to become disrespectful. They just discuss appearances, ignoring talent. The actress responded to the same by saying, “Those are not the people you should give importance to anywhere. Perhaps they are dissatisfied with life, and we performers are their perfect target,” Raashii added.

Raashii Khanna will next be seen in the Hindi film Yodha opposite Sidharth Malhotra. It releases on March 15.
