Bigg Boss Tamil 7: Vichithra Opens Up About Traumatic Sexual Harassment Incident On A Film Set

Bigg Boss Tamil Season 7, hosted by Kamal Haasan, is currently going on in full swing. Yesteryear actress Vichithra is one of the most impactful participants in the ongoing season. She has made a special place in the hearts of the viewers with her strong personality. In a recent episode, the participants of Bigg Boss were asked to share a life-altering experience. During this task, Vichithra shared her traumatic sexual harassment incident while working on a Telugu film. The incident impacted her so much that she quit the entertainment world 20 years ago. She also said that she complained about the incident with the union, but no action was taken.

In the episode, Vichithra said, “In 2000, a late actor offered me a film. The shooting took place in Malampuzha, where I met my husband and also faced my worst-ever casting couch experience. For which I disappeared from films after my wedding.”

Vichithra shared that during the shooting, she was allocated a 3-star hotel where her husband was the general manager. After she went there, the crew organised a party, where she met the hero of her film. They both didn’t know each other, but he asked her to come to his room. It was a huge shock for her. She ignored the incident, went to her room and slept. The next day, she started facing various issues during the shooting.

“The men who worked on the film used to get drunk and knock on my door,” she said. But her husband, who was not even her friend at the time, helped her. He changed her room without letting the team know. But the men used to knock on doors, believing that she was inside. One day, the men ran out of patience and decided to teach her a lesson.

When she was shooting a forest scene, she felt that someone was touching her inappropriately. She initially believed that it might be a mistake, but it happened again. Then she caught him and brought him to the stunt master; but instead, he slapped her without any reason. No one from the entire team stepped up to take her side. She was so angry and disheartened that she was not in a state to talk to her family, so she shared the whole scenario with one of her friends, who suggested she file a complaint about this incident to the association.

“I complained about it to the association. But no one came to support me. I remember now that the union leader openly told me not to come to the association and go and file a complaint with the police. It wasn’t long after this that I left the entertainment world. Yet, I love films. I brushed it all off and lived with my family,” said Vichithram while ending her speech.
