New Delhi: Reliance has decided to postpone the collection of additional energy charges for electricity.

Reliance Energy has indefinitely postponed the 24 per cent hike in the cost of electricity that had been announced earlier in Mumbai.

They changed their mind following pressure from political parties and consumer organisations.

Earlier it had planned to charge an additional 97 paise per unit of power as ordered by the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC).

Now Reliance Energy has requested MERC to review the petition.

But Reliance Energy will continue with its tariff increase of 7.5 per cent as ordered by the MERC.
