In Bengaluru, where the cost of living often feels like a high-stakes game, even the humble auto rickshaws come with a price tag that can make one’s wallet shudder. But amidst this urban hustle, an old image emerged on the digital horizon, stirring up a storm of disbelief. Why, you ask? It’s a photograph capturing what can only be described as a “premier” parking fee for vehicles. Imagine the sheer audacity of demanding a cool Rs. 1000 just to park your wheels for an hour! In an era where even Rs. 50 for parking feels like daylight robbery, this revelation hits like a bolt from the blue.
Hold up, is that for a month, a year, or a lifetime? Nope, it’s merely for a single hour, as highlighted by the UB City Mall’s viral board reposted by Ravi Handa on ‘X’: “Premium Parking. Rs. 1000/- Per Hour.”
Here’s the Picture:

And then the floodgates of comments opened.
“What happens in premium parking? your car gets a bath?” joked one commenter. “Pay via EMI?” queried another. Yet another pondered, “Premium parking? you get blue tick on car?” And amidst the banter, someone added, “Galti se kuch din gaadi rakh di, to gaadi rakhni hi pad jayegi as payment.”
While many Bengalureans acknowledged the longstanding nature of such charges, dating back to 2015, the OP couldn’t help but express relief that inflation hadn’t driven the prices even higher!

Additionally, some enlightened others that the basement parking charges in the mall didn’t align with this exorbitant fee, hinting at the possibility of additional premium services. “This may be some package of premium services. I went to UB City last weekend and paid for usual basement parking on regular charges like any other mall,” suggested one visitor, recalling their recent experience at UB City where they paid the standard basement parking rates.
Another explained the rationale behind the premium fee, noting, “That’s because it’s a premium mall and usually they don’t let you park at the mall entrance. They have basement parking. But if you don’t have the patience and want the car waiting near the entrance, pay the premium.”
